About us

We formed The Malicks in early 2020, in Berlin rehearsal rooms, initially just casual jams without a real plan. Things started to get serious when Pyro joined us on bass and vocals, bringing focus and fresh energy. Our early songs, like “Wannabe,” “Empty Lines,” and “Cohesion,” came naturally—raw, loud, and authentic. We quickly recorded these first tracks ourselves, capturing the spontaneous feel we valued most.

After those initial sessions, guitarist Alina joined the band. Although not involved in the initial songwriting, she immediately became a vital part of our live presence, debuting at our first gig in late 2022. We started playing regularly—loud, intense, a bit chaotic, but always genuine. Performing live quickly became the heart of who we are.

We handle everything ourselves: songwriting, recording, mixing, artwork, booking, and promotion. DIY began as a practical solution but soon became integral to our identity. We’ve constantly improved our skills, finding deep satisfaction in having total creative control. Today, independence isn’t a slogan; it’s how we genuinely create our music.

Our music blends the intensity of punk rock with darker alternative elements. Our tracks are intentionally raw, unpolished, and honest—imperfections aren’t hidden, they’re celebrated. Recently, we’ve added dual vocals, creating richer textures and distinctive depth. We’re not chasing perfect takes; we’re capturing real moments.

Pyro writes most of our lyrics, addressing universal issues like frustration, societal expectations, psychological pressure, and the absurdities of modern life. “Wannabe” rejects conformity and digital alienation, “Cohesion” and “Empty Lines” express feelings of isolation and the search for authenticity, while “We Call It World,” with thousands of international streams, directly challenges societal issues. The lyrics are honest reflections of what we see and feel every day.

Our live shows are energetic, honest, and direct. We don’t aim for polished perfection but for a genuine connection. We perform regularly, creating moments where band and audience blend naturally. Our gigs aren’t about impressing anyone—they’re about sharing real experiences with anyone who connects with our music.

In October 2023, Alina left the band. Early in 2024, Tobi joined as guitarist, bringing fresh creativity and ideas. The current lineup—Alex (guitar, vocals), Pyro (bass, lead vocals), Erik (drums), and Tobi (guitar)—is solid, motivated, and constantly evolving.

We aren’t aiming for mainstream fame, but we’re proud that our music is steadily reaching a wider international audience, with thousands of streams across multiple countries. Driven by genuine passion for creating music, we continue to explore new sounds, write deeper songs, and play live whenever possible. New releases are always on the way—heavier, deeper, and more personal. There’s no fixed plan, just a clear vision to keep making music our way, and sharing it with whoever connects with it.
